On behalf of the association , Prof. Dr. Ricardo P. Pama, Secretary General of AUAP thanked UNESCO for being instrumental in the formation of AUAP in 1995. It will be recalled that at the suggestion of UNESCO, Prof Wichit Srisa-an, as Founder Rector of Suranaree University of Technology invited university presidents, vice chancellors and rectors of universities in Asia and the Pacific for a meeting to discuss the formation of a regional organization to be the voice of higher education institutions in this part of the world.
